My son, Jacob had been itching for a longboard quite some time, after learning to skate in Austin. Being the person that I am, why buy it, if I can build it. After watching several tutorials online, I found Roarockit, a company based out of Canada. I purchased the maple wood material for the deck and began the project. After my first failed attempt and laminating and pressing the wood, the second board worked out great. I came up with a shape that Jacob had been looking at and decided to use some of favorite colors – orange and red to include his initials JSG. I really liked the look of the natural wood, so I did not go too graphic heavy on the design and even used clear grip tape on part of the top. With help from the staff at No Comply in Austin, TX – I was able to purchase the trucks, wheels and bearings to complete the board. Jacob was excited to get the board for Christmas and has already made his way around our neighborhood.
